Just talked to someone yesterday who got baptized in the '90s. She still 'believes' but she mentioned the end and then said, 'well, they've been saying that for 25 years'. Seriously? More like 140 years! Every witness must think they're the only one like a child, as if they just started talking about the end when SHE got baptized. 🙄

Nice quote
by Gorbatchov inwith christmas gorby had a good talk with his jw father about “time tends to fly” and how everything changes.. he concluded: “if our grandparents would visit the kingdom hall now, they would headshaking left the building and never returned.”.
it says something, does it?.

Don't you think that some people are just better off within the org?
by paradiseseeker inthis is my first post, i will introduce myself later.
first of all, i must say that english is not my mother tongue (i'm spanish), so excuse me if i make any mistake.. do you think that some people simply can't cope with being outside the jws?
some of them are too worldlyphobic to be around non-jws, too dependent on a fixed set of rules in order to carry on with their lives, too dependent on the hope of paradise and resurrection, too unable to leave their personal comfort zone within the organization.

Here's an illustration:
Someone's got a tumor or a parasitic twin. How much is that growth attached to their vital functions? What are the risks of removing it? Is it always worth it? It's hard to say, every case is different

aspects of shunning
by stan livedeath inmany members on here have been shunned.
we know whats its like--and the effect it has had on our lives.
but what about those of us who practiced shunning before--when we were members of the watchtower cult ?.

I remember when I was younger I was afraid to sit in the back row next to a disfellowshipped girl, it was the only seat left. Later my attitude changed. I was still fully in and believed it was the truth, but I would go out of my way to look for loopholes to show kindness to disfellowshipped people, even those I didn't know. Funny thing is, when a relative of mine was disfellowshipped I went back to being strict, thinking it was a test and I was being faithful.

Pot smoking, ok in California the first of the year.
by James Mixon inyour doctor prescribe cannabis (you are a depress jw), you show your prescription to the body of elders because someone saw you smoking pot.
i wonder how many elders will seek out that doctor to get the same medication.
what would be wrong with a jw lighting up a blunt after a hard day?

A regular pioneer relative of mine with "chronic fatigue", "fibromyalgia" and all the other head diseases really caused by poor diet, no exercise and cognitive dissonance was considering smoking "medical" marijuana.

I think I understand. You want to convert this secret publication into JW Library's proprietary format so that you can show some damning information from it to a JW straight from JW Library, is that right? That's a great question. I wonder if .jwpub files can be edited by any 3rd party software?

Encounter with a long time elder. (Jehovah's happy people)
by freddo inso i'm at work and go to my vehicle parked outside the empty property i'm working at and an elderly man comes out of next door and we recognise each other from when we were elders in the same circuit.
he is early 80's in age, a jw since the 1960's and so the next generation in age up from me.. he's an outwardly jolly sort and asks how i am etc.
(knows i'm not an elder but thinks i'm pimi) and asks if i want a cup of tea so i go in and sit in his kitchen for my lunchbreak and have a chat.. i have a little fish around and ask about how jw's in his hall are.

Do JWs Still Believe That Everything Pictures The “Anointed”?
by minimus init seemed like the society taught that somehow everyone and everything pictured the anointed class.
is that still the case?
?.

Yes they do still believe that, they just don't offer types/antitypes that are AS complex as in years past to make themselves seem reasonable and so the R&F doesn't have to think too much. At just the last annual meeting, a new understanding was offered: Instead of picturing the superior Way of Christianity, Ezekiels temple vision now is said to represent the anointed since 1919 . . . As are many other things like the illustration of the faithful slave, etc.

ignore the cunning shunts.
Are you sure you don't mean "ignore the shunning cu*#s"?
The Parkinson's is destroying the years of indoctrination and his "authentic self" is shining through.
Took the words right out of my mouth!
